SUSTAINABILITY

Environmental sustainability

Community care involves a lot of driving and a lot of single-use consumables. Both are worth managing deliberately.

We are a community care provider rather than a manufacturer, so our environmental impact sits mainly in travel between visits, the personal protective equipment and consumables our services use, and the energy used by our office.

Rounds are planned geographically where care needs allow, which reduces mileage and also gives people more consistent staff. Where the two conflict, continuity of care takes priority.

Care records are held digitally rather than on paper, which removes printing and courier journeys and makes information available to those who need it without a physical file moving between locations.

COMMITMENTS

Where we focus

Personal protective equipment is used according to infection prevention and control requirements. That is a clinical decision rather than an environmental one, and we do not reduce PPE use for environmental reasons. We do work to avoid waste in ordering and storage.

Office practice covers recycling, reducing printing, and considering energy use when equipment is replaced.

This page describes how we work rather than claiming a measured outcome. We would rather publish a figure once we can evidence it than an ambition we cannot.
