QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often, in one place. Each service page also has questions specific to that service.

If your question is not here, call 01934 416585 or use the contact form. We would rather answer a question early than have someone guess.

GETTING STARTED

Arranging care

Who do you support?

Adults aged 18 and over. That includes young adults moving out of children’s services, working-age adults and older adults. Our Who We Support page has the detail.

Do I need a professional referral?

No. Individuals and families can contact us directly. Professionals can also refer, and our Professionals & Referrals page is written for them.

What happens after I get in touch?

We talk through the situation, and if it looks like we can help we arrange an assessment of needs before anything is agreed. Nothing is committed on a first call.

How quickly can support start?

It depends on the package and the assessment. We will give you a realistic answer rather than an optimistic one, and we will say if we cannot meet a timescale.

What areas do you cover?

Our office is in Worle, Weston-super-Mare. Coverage depends on the service and the package, so please ask when you contact us.

Can support change over time?

Yes. Plans are written so hours, tasks and the people involved can be adjusted, and they are reviewed rather than fixed at the point of referral.

FUNDING

Paying for care

How much does care cost?

It depends on the hours, the tasks and the level of clinical oversight. We will not quote for a package we have not assessed.

Will the council pay?

Possibly, after a needs assessment and a financial assessment. The capital limits in England for 2026/27 are ÂŁ23,250 upper and ÂŁ14,250 lower. See Paying for Care & Funding.

What is NHS Continuing Healthcare?

A package funded entirely by the NHS for adults with a primary health need. It is not means-tested. Eligibility is decided by assessment of need rather than diagnosis.

Can I choose my own provider?

Often yes, if you take funding as a Direct Payment or Personal Health Budget. It is worth asking about this specifically.

OUR SERVICE

How we work

Are you regulated?

Yes. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Our Clinical Governance & Quality page explains how we govern the service.

Are you a nursing agency?

No. Registered Nurses provide clinical leadership and oversight, and trained support staff carry out delegated healthcare tasks within an assessed competency framework. See Nurse-Led Delegated Healthcare.

Will I have the same carers?

Continuity is something we plan for, because it matters to quality as well as to comfort. Absence and changing needs mean we will not promise it absolutely.

How do I raise a concern?

Speak to any member of staff or a manager, or use our feedback and complaints route. Raising a concern will never affect the care someone receives.

WORKING WITH US

Careers

Do I need experience?

Not always. Induction is structured and aligned to the Care Certificate, and you will not work unsupervised or perform a task before being signed off for it.

What training do you provide?

Induction, then training matched to the people you support. See Learning & Development.

How do I apply?

Use the form on our Careers page. You can attach a CV or send one later.
