Ultimate Complex Care Ltd is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our organisation and in our supply chains.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
We work with adults who may be at increased risk of exploitation, and we employ a workforce that includes people recruited internationally. We therefore treat this as a safeguarding matter as much as a procurement one.
Ultimate Complex Care Ltd provides adult community care and support in England, regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Our services include home care, complex care, supported living, live-in care, mental health support, and healthcare tasks delegated by registered professionals.
Our supply chain is small and consists mainly of recruitment, training, equipment, digital care planning software and professional services.
Our approach rests on the checks we already carry out as a regulated care provider, applied deliberately to the risk of exploitation rather than treated as a separate exercise.
All staff have a route to raise concerns without fear of reprisal, and safeguarding concerns about a member of our own workforce are treated with the same seriousness as concerns about someone we support.
We assess the risk of modern slavery when engaging recruitment partners and suppliers, and we expect those we work with to operate to standards consistent with this statement.
Indicators of exploitation form part of safeguarding training for our workforce, because care staff visiting people at home are often well placed to notice signs that others would not see. Staff are told what to do and who to tell.
Concerns can be raised with your manager, with our safeguarding lead, or directly with the local authority safeguarding team. The Modern Slavery Helpline is available on 08000 121 700.
This statement is made in relation to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
This statement is reviewed annually. It is approved by the board of directors of Ultimate Complex Care Ltd, and the approved version carries the financial year to which it relates together with the name and signature of the approving director.
Organisations with an annual turnover below £36 million are not required to publish a statement under section 54, but may publish one voluntarily. Either way, the approval above is what makes it a statement rather than a description of intent.
